Sickle Cell Smart
Content creation Volunteer —Worked with Anisa Sickle Cell Foundation as a content creation volunteer
In October 2025, I volunteered with the Anisa Sickle Cell Foundation (ASCF) during a school-based health education outreach focused on genotype awareness and sickle cell prevention.
My role was to support the initiative as a member of the media team, using photography and videography to document the outreach and help amplify accurate health information targeted at young people.
I worked closely with the ASCF team to capture educational sessions delivered to students of Herbert Macaulay School on genotype types, their meanings, and compatibility. The outreach also involved coordinating media coverage for the provision of free genotype testing, conducted with the consent of school authorities and parents.
The initiative aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) & 4 (Quality Education) and we reached over 100 students with both education and free genotype testing. The experience strengthened my commitment to preventive healthcare, youth-focused health advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
